Pricesmart

The Pricemart here on St Thomas is very nice and we find it very economical. Selection is wide (comparative to the Caribbean) and prices are decent (comparative to the Caribbean).

I'm curious to know how the other Pricemarts dotted around the Caribbean and Central/South America are. Anyone ran into one they would stay away from?

Re: Pricesmart

In Panama and Guatemala they differ in size, inventory and quality. Don't know of any scary ones, but some are better than others.

Re: Pricesmart

Thanks Mark.

I assume those ones are easy to get to for cruisers? St Thomas is pretty small so everything is reachable.

Re: Pricesmart

Well, some of the shelfs are pretty high…

But in general, no. They are located in the major cities, which are mostly away from the cruising grounds. If you are on the Pacific side of Panama near Panama City, then it is easier. In Guatemala City is in the middle of the country.

We just take buses into the cities, spend the night and come back with our stuff.

Sounds like more fun than shopping at the marina to me.
