It's the CF effect , also known as the Cruiser Forurm divergent conclusion problem expansion syndrome.

The OP wants some sliced beetroot for a salad. Now she's raising goats............

In the UK most likely find its in jars rather than canned.

Search (beetroot) - Groceries - Tesco Groceries
Way better than Vegemite.

Beets kind of fall into the love it or hate it group of foods far as I'm concerned. And if you didn't grow up eating it and now love it (which I assume the OP didn't as they are now asking about) I would tend to believe they should take a pass of it.

I haven't had Vegemite either, but if you put it on a beet I'm not sure what the result would be. Bear repellent maybe.

I am not sure but I guess the bears would pass on it !!

Not a huge fan of vegemite myself HOWEVER, afteer a big night a couple of slices of toast slathered with the stuff does help the head in the morning !

And baby beets slow roasted as part of a baked dinner are GREAT.
