It was purely a suggestion, Different options, Case of UHT milk can be stowed any where on the boat, You can even open the case and stack it in little holes out of the way till its ready to use,

Of course, that could be.

But unless they have a water maker, powdered milk does not represent less weight on board, compared to carrying cases of UHT. And perhaps they haven't tried UHT recently - recent advances in the technology mean that it is now almost indistinguishable from fresh, by taste. Worth mentioning in case they hadn't considered UHT.

That true but i go through 2 liters of milk a day by myself, so if there were 4 on board like me we all answer from our own experiences

I also go through at least 2 litres of milk a day,

A couple of years ago. UHT milk was absolutely gross to drink. They have come a long way with it,

Not necessarily. You will probably be able to obtain water than any sort of milk (or powder) in many places... Making it worthwhile carrying a few tins.

Re: Milk - anyone know a tasty brand of milk powder ?

Just to cover all the bases, milk can also be frozen. Freezing will not change the the flavor of the milk but it will cause the milk solids and water to separate. So the milk will need a good shake before drinking. I know that this will not likely be of much help to most cruisers, but who knows someone might find it useful.

There is two ways that "fresh milk" can be processed; pasturised and homognised only the latter can be frozen without major effects. Frozen milk is an intelegent and effect addition to the ice box or esky.

What's the new cellphone ad? That's so 24 months ago - LOL

As a kid we drank a lot of powdered. +1 for NIDO. -1 for KLIM. But its a personal taste thing too.

Doesn't come close to real milk and havent found a powder that does.

UHT is da bomb for boats.

Re: Milk - anyone know a tasty brand of milk powder ?

Powdered milk has come a long way in the past few years. We no longer get fresh milk even when it's readily available. We only use it in tea and a jug of milk takes up a lot of room in the fridge. Walmart powdered milk works well, we make up about half a quart at a time. Well chilled it's hard to tell from 2%.
