For one charter trip, I brought what I thought would be treat for the crew: real Margaritas made with good tequila, Grand Marnier, and fresh lime juice. NO mixer, blechh! NO sugar!! I loved them, but nobody else did. They wanted that syrupy, chemically tequila mix. We didn't have any aboard, so they drank vodka or rum with sweetened mixers and I drank all the tequila myself. After a while, I skipped the Grand Marnier and favored tequila/lime juice/splash of water.

Re: Margaritas

If you want real hardcore, then you need to do body shots.

Ingredients:
Bottle of Patron or equally smooth tequila
shaker of salt
couple of limes, cut up
one willing young lady (or your wife, if that's how you roll)

Procedure:
Place the slice of lime between the teeth of your intended target - I mean drinking partner
select a nice, erotic spot to lick, like inside of her elbow, upper chest, inside of thigh - it depends on your curb appeal and her level of adventure.
shake a little salt on the wet spot
then
lick the salt off of her body
take your shot
and kiss her to get your slice of lime

Then, repeat, allowing her to lick, take a shot and kiss.

Depending on her mood, your moves, and how much of an alcoholic she is, after 2 - 5 shots each you should be easily moving the "party" to a quieter, softer location with some candle light. A spa also helps, with added heat, plus bikinis allow for much easier access to body parts.

A little orange juice should have done the trick. If still not sweet enough add sugar to the juice. A dash of Rose's lime might work too. Either way beats that dreadful syrup full of HFCS.

Re: Margaritas

I'm a 2 tequila one Cointreau one lime but this week with a twist. I've been stewing fresh apricots for breakfast, without sugar, and adding about a shot of the liquid from that into the mix. Pretty delicious. Ice a must.

Re: Margaritas

In the late 1990's, on a friends boat, with a large cold freezer, we took a large boxed wine bladder an put in a bottle of tequila, a bottle of decent mix, a bottle of water and a few limes squeezed, just put it in the freezer for a couple days. We had slushy margaritas for several days. You need the water to make it slushy.

Cheers!

Re: Margaritas

Plenty of different kinds of fruit puree go well in a margarita. You could also use mango, papaya or nectarine.

I'm sure everyone's salsa recipes are delicious, but I'm kinda lazy and just buy Pace salsa, probably nowhere near as good as homemade, but good enough for me.

My guacamole recipe consists of 4 or 5 ripe avocados, 4 or 5 tablespoons of salsa, some garlic salt and some finely diced onions, maybe a little lime juice if you like it. Adjust it to taste. People always wonder how to make leftover guacamole stay fresh - the secret is in sealing it from air. The seed does nothing, lime juice adds flavor, but that's it.

Put leftovers in a tupperware container or bowl, and smooth it flat with plastic wrap. Carefully pour water onto the guac until it is all covered in 1/4" to 1/2" of water and seal up the container or cover the bowl with the plastic wrap. When you want to eat it, open it up, drain off the water, dab up excess water with a piece of napkin, stir it up and voila! Fresh green guacamole!

Re: Margaritas

Nothing wrong with Pace salsa. If you can get it, try Herdez which comes in both red ( tomato base ) and green ( tomatillo base ).

Re: Margaritas

7 parts Tequila
4 parts Cointreau
3 parts lime juice
a splash of Agave Syrup (found at Wholefoods market)

The syrup makes a big difference.
