agree with you on that .. even when i had a few pints in UK .. i thought it was much better then what we have here in the states

Keep looking for that real Irish Guinness everywhere. Often need to taste more than one to make absolutely SURE it's not the real thing.

The standard of Guinness in the UK has gotten better since the Guinness brewery in Park Royal was closed down a few years ago. It's well know that the further Guinness travels the worse it gets, but the most important think is to have the barrel near to the pump and the lines must be cleaned on a regular basis.

I never heard of a Black and Tan (the drink) until I started travelling and I don't know anyone back home who drinks them. Blackcurrent cordial (small bit) is often added to a Guinness to get the 'ladies' drinking the black stuff.

Don't miss the Guinness out of Jamaica where "Guinness is power," and we know what kind of power they are talking about. Int he other hand, my mother-in-law drank Guinness through each of her pregnancies because Guinness is good for you.

Traditionally I think the stout that British doctors recommended for pregnant mothers was milk stout. It was made with a high degree of milk sugar in it and include herbs that included burdock root. Guiness made a version of it but I can't say I've ever had it.
