Re: Kalik Beer in the Bahamas

The closest comparison would be what one might imagine if they drank D-g P-ss. Red Label is a close cousin. Nothing better than European beer--especially German.

Re: Kalik Beer in the Bahamas

If it helps at all, the Admiral drinks nothing but Miller Light or Natural Light.
She loves Kalik. Would not touch a Red Stripe.

You will notice that most of the All Inclusives in the Bahamas have switched to Sands rather than Kalik. The bartenders say it is because Sands is still made in Freeport and less expensive.

Re: Kalik Beer in the Bahamas

Can anyone explain why Kalik is cheaper in Publics than here in the Bahamas?

Re: Kalik Beer in the Bahamas

Probably because of what we just concluded: it's being contract brewed out of Florida Beer Company in Melbourne. That's my guess.

Re: Kalik Beer in the Bahamas

Melbourne, FL water available from the utility dept is not "limestone" or groundwater. It is a combination of treated surface water from Lake Washington and RO water processed through a brackish reverse osmosis (BWRO) plant. I used to work for Melbourne Utilities so this is firsthand knowledge.

Wasn't there another brewery on US1 at one time? I forget the name but perhaps this was taken over by Kalik? I haven't lived there in about 8 years.

Because after drinking it your entire life, you told me how much you thoroughly enjoyed its taste. However high your recommendation,I would wholeheartedly disagree. Skoal!

I don't know where you are, but I have found Kalik all through the US in specialty food stores that carry microbrews, etc.

Also, it is widely available throughout the Bahamas. It sounds like you might be chartering? If so, you can probably buy it across the street from wherever your boat is docked. So at the least, you could walk into the store, buy a bottle and try it right there. If you like it, you could buy more.
