Is butane stove fuel available in the Caribbean?

I'm talking about these 8-oz cans, that you see in every Walmart camping section?

They can be found in more upscale hardware stores in Central America/Western Carib, but propane is far more widley available. I would consider converting to use a propane tank.

Thanks Belizesailor, conversion is an option.

BTW I should have specified it's the eastern Caribbean I'm curious about. For now.

There are many others here who can chime in on the E Carib. Butane is more commonly used in the European held islands as a cooking fuel and butane tanks are common, but I dont know about availability of these canisters.

Re: Is butane stove fuel available in the Caribbean?

I would be more interest in knowing what you intend to use them for?

If it's for one of those single ring stoves in a box which a lever clamps the canister in place then, well they are a death trap and really shouldn't be on board.

There are so many better options.
