Re: How Often Do You Use Your Propane Oven ?

While redoing the galley we removed the old stove/oven combo and opted for a 3 burner cooktop. In the space that was oven we built a slide out for an Engle Freezer.

I bake Pizzas, cake, enchiladas, lasagne, and even bread etc on the grill. I use two pans with a spacer between and fill the bottom pan with 1/2" water for insulation and have great success.

I also make a great pizza and flatbread on the stove top.

Re: How Often Do You Use Your Propane Oven ?

The only thing I've ever used my oven for when living aboard was for bread; anything else that needed baking went on the barbie or was purchased somewhere the heat wouldn't stay in my cabin.

I never use the oven but would sure use a fridge a lot more. Thanks for planting that idea!

Great idea. We are so in love with our Engle MT45, which we use as a refrigerator. We want a second small one to use as a freezer. Was just trying to figure out where to put it.

Which Engle did you use? Please post pictures if you have any.

Engle MR040F-U1 is there 40 qt marine version. It opens like a regular cooler which many do not so it works well with the slide out.

Rarely if ever used in the south. A pressure cooker is faster, uses less propane and doesnt heat teh cabin so bad.

I use our old Shipmate 4-5 times a week. Nothing like fresh bread, cookies or banana muffins. I have had to get resourseful on parts for the old thing but it works.

Re: How Often Do You Use Your Propane Oven ?

The last boat we had didn't have an oven and did we ever miss it. I tried every way of baking on a stove top, or using our BBQ, but nothing came close to an oven. When we first looked at Yofy one of the things that jumped out at me was the force 10 stove and oven. We use our oven all the time ... granola, baked chicken, breads, cookies, baked fish.... Having an oven allows for variety in menues on board. I've seen neighbours ditch their ovens to use the space for something else, but they usually regret the decision.

How often do I use the propane oven? All the time. I store the pots and pans in it, works great! You mean do I cook in it? Heavens no, never! Banish the thought...

Use the oven a lot - more in cooler weather than warm: bread, lasagna, pork loin, roasts, biscuits, bacon, sausage/kielbasa, frittata, all kinds of casserole (tuna on the menu for tomorrow), roast veg, home fries, turkey & chicken, enchiladas, ...

I use mine in Mexico about once or twice a week. Bread, rolls, pizza all the stuff one would do at home. My brother makes great baked fresh tuna with wasabi glaze in it when we are at sea. Could not do without it.

Main difference between our sea kayaks and our yacht?

The sea kayaks don't have ovens.
