Re: Housekeeping contribution cruising in Japan

Usually, if a Japanese yacht owner invited you to his yacht, he is preparing to pay all expenses include all meals on board, fuel costs, marina expenses. This action is called "OMOTENASHI" in Japanese
Japanese are friendly to foreign sailors

A couple of weeks is a long cruise for Japanese yacht.
I think that it is good to discuss frankly contributing before boarding the ship
The Japanese do not think you are worried about the contribution.
He thinks you will speak straight to him without hesitation

For me, I am glad if you bring me some delicious wines
The sea in Japan is still cold in March and April
Please make sure you will protect yourself against cold weather
have fun
Toshi
