Has anyone bought a Pelican cooler?

I just noticed that Costco sells the Pelican cooler, rated for 7 days of ice. Based on the reviews on Amazon, it's heavier and better insulated than even the Yeti cooler, at a lower price. According to Outdoor Gear Lab, the Yeti and Pelican are equal in terms of thermal retention, but the Pelican is better suited for a permanent location, the Yeti is better for portable use, simply due to the weight difference. The empty 45 qt Pelican weighs in at 35 lbs, 8 lbs more than teh Yeti!

Costco has the 95 qt version for $380, which would make a good bench seat. MSRP is $730.

Anybody bought one for beer or fish storage?

Re: Has anyone bought a Pelican cooler?

I was at a trade show last month and talked to Pelican about their coolers. The sales rep mentioned that their sizes were based on internal dimensions and that Yeti was based on external dimensions. Take a look at the dimensions of both the Pelican 35 quart cooler and the Yeti 35 quart cooler. I think he was correct. The Pelican 35 is larger than the Yeti 35.

The Pelican 35 is actually bigger than the Yeti 45!

I like the latches on the Pelican better than the Yeti latches.
