We make what we call "survival cookies." Basically, it's flour, oats, raisins, barley malt, a bit of salt, and anything else near at hand, like sunflower seeds or peanuts or almonds. Anything vaguely nutritious can be tossed in. Then bake at low temp for hours till they are rock hard. They keep at least three weeks in a plastic bag, and seem like a full meal when you're hungry. And good exercise for the jaw muscles. . . .
