Green Bag Alternative

This is a new one for me. Empty cereal box bags make great storage for vegetables. Friends who did the great loop swear by them. I have never been a big fan of the purchased green bags, so I'm going to try this.

I saw a set of green storage containers on TV recently that supposdely do the same job as green bags. I don't know if they work however...

I believe (hope) Entlie was referring to re-using the waxed paper inner bag, not the actual cardboard box (which, as Bash notes, must never come aboard).

Are you saying the plastic inner bags for cereal have the same properties as the green bags? Or is it just a way of reusing the plastic?

Yes, I was referring to the inner bag of the cereal box, not the box.

The inner bags are sort of a plasticized paper (or paperized plastic?). The folks who told me about it said this worked well for them to store vegetables in their boat fridge, and I'm planning to try it on our upcoming cruise.

One of my complaints about the Green Bags well two, actually, is (1) the cost, and (2) cleaning the darn things before the next use. With these cereal box liners, you could throw them away after one or two uses without a guilt trip of tossing money overboard. Oh! And (3) they come included in the cost of the cereal!

Yes but wax paper was much more echo friendly.. so you could say your generation was ahead of their time.

BTW have no idea how old you are. If you wrote burlap sack .....
