I'll bet for no more than another half Wally Jaguar would build one up as a convertible, just for you.

I think we have now established a new unit of boat money

From a boat buck $100
to boat unit $1000
to a Wally, a few million or if you have to ask to can't afford it.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Gin Tankage?

A - What is a Wally? (not that I want the thread to continue in direction it has taken )

B - The distillery for the bulk gin was near the Lucas facility.

or

C - Lucas made sure they at least double-checked all the items the distillers used.

D - Remembering ****-bad break-downs in ****-bad cars while drinking gin proves it is a wonderful medicine. (The gin, not the ****-bad cars)

E - This is a record thread drift.

Somebody mentioned tightening bolts on a regular basis. Oh yes, I had a "Ban the Bomb" Cortina once upon a time. Yes, tightening bolts...

Wally Yachts, based in Monte Carlo and priced accordingly. The yachting equivalent to Lamborghini but on a huge scale. Guaranteed to make the most jaded sailor drool and babble incoherently.

This little 80 foot baby from 2004 is a steal at 2.250 million euros

Wally // wally 80 Aori

Drool and babble? passed that stage a long time ago. I saw one of these in Sweden a couple of years ago.

Drool is an inadequate word for what I did.

Yes, well back to the thread........

When I drink enough gin (read: lots off gin), I begin to think about selling everything and seeing if that's enough to get (very) used Wally.

But the cheapest one I can find on the net is (only) 1.5 million euros.

http://www.wally.com/tiketitoo-broker/

Even if I could swing that - what do a suite of sails cost? Annual maintenance?

No - I'll just have to stick with my Jeanneau

By doing that - I can afford to drink gin

A group of my colleagues were going to buy one last year. To keep it running and in amazing order they reckoned it would cost EUROS 200k a year.

They didnt get one.

Think it's time for me to go buy a lottery ticket. But unless I hit a really big jackpot even the lottery might not be enough to buy a Wally. How's that for a dose of reality?

Maybe the market is ready for another Bernie Madoff. Forget used. That could buy me a new Wally.

In his Heyday, Bernie could have afforded one - or two - his and hers

Re: Gin Tankage?

Has anyone suggested beer brewing supplies? A 5 gallon carboy in glass or plastic (which wouldn't flavor the gin) might be a solution. They come with dispensers too.

Dockhead

5 gallons might just get you (and your thirsty crew) all the way from the Solent, with stops at Ramsgate and Great Yarmouth to the stepping off point on the way to Helgoland (for a refill)

Re: Gin Tankage?

Soooo, here's and idea. Know those box wines? Once you finish the wine you can pull the spigot off, clean it out, and refill it. Gin, rum, or other spirits should keep quite well in there as they keep the exposure to air very low.

Stuff it back in the cardboard box and set it not to the fridge. Or maybe IN the fridge. Then you don't need to dilute the good stuff with ice.
