Re: Gin Tankage?

Seems to be a connection between owning British cars and being led to a life of gin guzzling.

Re: Gin Tankage?

Maybe the Brit cars caused us to become alcoholics???

TR3A, TR4, TR8, XK8.... ..........

Oh... and the Japs started with Lucas, and quickly switched to Bosch...

Dockhead, I saw your recipe for a Martinez and thought I'd mix one up just so I could come here and make snarky comments about how really horrible it was. Then I took a sip and, - well, my goodness.

Those of us whose gentleman's code requires Martinis in warm weather and Manhattans in the cold now have a drink for those awkward in-between times. Thank you for passing it on. Can't imagine how I've missed it all these years.

pure sex - and any woman who says she isn't attracted by one is lying.

Some day, when I retire from cruising, I'm going to own a 66 or 67 Jag E type, and I shall thoroughly enjoy driving down to the store to buy more gin

(just to get the thread back on track)
Not a convertible but here's a chance to own an original E-type, brand new.

Lightweight E-TYPE is reborn

Don't you mean Captain Dry? We don't drink under way either. It gets in the way of staying alive. Join us when we are stopped. I raced for 18 years with the same crew on the same boat. We were serious & won a lot. All of the drinks stayed at the dock. We noted that 3 of 4 other racers were drinking and would drop well back after about two hours.

Re: Gin Tankage?

An old friend who owned a classic Jaguar sedan described Lucas as electrical equipment that will fail on a day with high humidity even though it was made in one of the rainiest countries in the civilized world.

Hmmmm- I'm sure this is gonna cost about the same as an 80 foot Wally.

No I want the convertible - the blonds(one at a time) in the passenger seat have to have their hair flowing in the wind

Damned stuff will also fail on a day with low humidity.

I object to the term "civilized." Try a Saturday night in Bristol.

Having lived through that time period, and contributed mightily to the profits of aforesaid company, It is funny to realise that we had no choice! So every saturday we would take a trip to a Lucas store in a vehicle that was working on the day, and get the requisite replacement parts.

It became a life routine.
