Fruit

I notice a lot of cruisers keep fruit in a net slung from the galley ceiling. Can I buy one of these or are they home made?

Re: Fruit

Hi Harro,

West Marine used to sell them. Sometimes you can do it with a series of baskets that are sometimes easier on the fruits than the net cargo slings.

Re: Fruit

You can buy them in lots of places. Though they're not tough to make. And as boat projects go, they're fun one's to do, given that there are no messy goops involved, nor any sanding And you can even get kids involved, or hand them the project. Perhaps even with a bit of psychology involved, stating that "they're too complex for you (personally) to figure out". Or that there's a reward for perfecting the design, etc.

Plus such hammocks make nice gifts, & not just for boaters. In addition to being great for storing all kinds of things in addition to fruit. Which is where perfecting the DIY design comes in, so that you can build different sizes for storing different things. From linens to lemons.

Re: Fruit

Either.

We use plain netting bought per ft from any home depot.
