Fridge Not Working Propper

Hi, the refrigerator in our galley is always collecting some water though on some places is ice. The temperature is also around 60F even on full power, i want to fix it instead buying a new one, any ideas?

Thank you!

Re: Fridge Not Working Propper

It would help to post the make and model of your fridge.

However, without that my advice is to first leave the door open and let it warm up inside for a day or two, meticulously clean the fridge in and out especially the compressor, heat exchanger, evaporator/plates, and any air passages associated with them. If you have a fan associated with your fridge make sure you also clean off the blades of the fan and that the fan motor works.

Once you do all that, turn it on and see if it magically starts working again. If it doesn't, you can start posting the particulars on your system and move forward from there.

Re refridg not cooling- many systems are sealed (freon) units & can't be recharged. Might have Freon leak or just low on. If sealed unit, stuck with replacing rather than recharging. Cleaning up & unthawing a good start, but low freon acts like you describe

The plates are meant to operate at several degrees below zero centigrade and the greater the exposed surface area the more "coolth" they produce.
But frost/ice is actually a good insulator and prevents the heat transfer.
So regular defrosting is absolutely necessary to ensure efficient operation.

Buy Richard Kollmann's book on refrigeration.
