Re: French Press coffee pot recommendation

We have used the Aero Press for a couple of years now. Pretty indestructible and makes a decent cup of coffee.
I press the fine ground coffee into a 20 oz. thermal mug (Ozark Trail at Walmart: $7). I rinse off the paper filter and use it twice. My bride gets her hazelnut and I get my dark roast.
I use a thermometer to monitor the water temp: 165 to 175. Eliminates any bitterness.
You Tube has all kinds of AP methods and techniques, ie inverted method.
Works for us.

our glass french press cracked while sitting full of coffee .. a big mess for sure. i would also recommend a stainless steel model.

Re: French Press coffee pot recommendation

+1 for Aeropress.

Next best thing to a good espresso machine and way more practical for a boat.

Head and shoulders better than chewing French press.

I reuse the filters 28 times.

Get yourself an Airpress--lightweight (plastic), super simple to use and makes a great mug of coffee. We live on a narrowboat in the UK and love it!!

NISSAN makes a stainless steel/vacuum thermos, which i have, great product, at a reasonable cost.

We love this one. It’s double walled/insulated.

Re: French Press coffee pot recommendation

I 7th the aeropress. I like to brew it upside down style then press over icecubes. Add whatever type of flavor or sweetner you like to that (simple syrup instead of sugar if that's how you like it). Pour into cube trays and freeze overnight. Heat some milk the next morning and pour over some cubes. Outstanding ice coffee

semi-pro tip: A martini shaker makes a great cup to press into and then pour out of.

I have Boduns at home and use the Stanley aboard the boat. The Stanley's best feature is being able to put it directly on the stove to boil the water.

Re: French Press coffee pot recommendation

I have a Lexan one from REI that has traveled the world for over 15 years and is still going strong. Have replaced the plunger several times from IKEA as for some reason I like dropping them in deep water. Don't ask
Also I make a pot with four times the coffee grounds and make Americanos when I need more then one cup.

Another thumbs up for the aero press. Great coffee and no coffee grounds.

Great replies.

Who ever takes the glass out of the holder? You must be a first...
