Force 10 Stove

Just had a 3 burner force 10 stove oven given to me for free but it is natural gas rig. Can they be changed to propane easily (cheaply) or do I have a shiny new anchor? Any help is appreciated.

Just be careful if that gift horse has cast iron burners. You can replace the small burners when the start to go, but not the big ones.

Perhaps contact the mfr. and ask them how to convert the unit and if they sell the orifices necessary.

Actually Force Ten sells the conversion/replacement burners for the old cast iron burner heads - both the smaller heads and the large burner head. They are rather expensive but consist of a total replacement of the whole burner assembly including the feed pipe, thermocouple and burner heads. The new ones are stainless steel.
- - Disassembling the Force 10 stove top is completely described in the kit instructions but is a "project" requiring some considerable care to avoid bending or damaging the insulation and other wires/pipes.
- - I did it successfully in about 4 hours.

Yes, the conversion kits are $125 for each burner and installing them is a total PITA. Plus, stainless does not dissipate heat as well as cast iron. That's just something to consider when accepting this "free" stove, since it is an added expense on top of to cost of converting the stove to propane.

Nothing like not reading the OP carefully - The stove is a CNG (compressed natural gas) unit which is a whole 'nuther animal from Propane (LPG) and its cousin Butane. Conversion is of CNG to LPG is a major rework of the stove/oven which involves changing just about everything except the sheet metal. Better to look for a used LPG Force 10.
- - CNG was touted as a much safer fuel for boats because it is lighter than air and rises versus LPG/Butane that is heavier than air and can accumulate in the bilges. But CNG in boats never caught on in the mainstream of boating galley equipment. Most probably because it is extremely difficult to find anyplace to refill the cylinders. Worldwide it is next to impossible. Even Propane and Butane have very regional problems with access to refills. But since they are close enough to be used with the same equipment in the LPG stove/oven access to refills is not a major hassle.
