Force 10 Marine Kerosene Burners

I just enquired about burners for my stove---they have been hard to find Last time quoted they were $65 US but not sure now.

"Hello Mark,
We are having 207 kerosene burners made, should be ready in about 2 weeks..Portugal ( patra) where we got burners are no longer in business, we have a waiting list for burners, I'll put your name on the list..How many burner do you need ?
Thank you
Shirlene/A&H"

A & H Enterprises, A & H Enterprises is the only North American service center for Optimus and Svea stoves.

and by the way----I have no financial interest in this company. mark hamill

Re: Force 10 marine kerosene burners

Thanks for the post.

I have one cooker and a heater in each boat.

I probably have enough spare burnrers for a lifetime, but it is good to know.

Re: Force 10 marine kerosene burners

I love the folks over at A&H and have been an off-and-on customer for years. Found them when I was mountaineering and collecting old backpacking stoves. They can build a kero boat stove from the ground up and the last price quoted me 3 years ago for a stove/oven was 200.00. The owner has "diversified" so things move a bit slower than they used to but Shirlene will go the extra mile and they do ship all over.

Re: Force 10 Marine Kerosene Burners

I found a site called Classic Camp Stoves www.spiritburner.com that has advertisers that specialize in burners and parts for kerosene and other pressure stoves and a sister site for Classic Lanterns www.classicpressurelamps.com. Found 2 lanterns on a boat I just bought and turns out they are pressure kerosene lanmps--now have a source for parts and how to start the things. Neat site.

Do not think that one is regulated with spindle.

Re: Force 10 Marine Kerosene Burners

Sorry - good catch. I had no idea that these would be so hard to find. From a purely selfish point of view, I think I am fixed with spare burners and parts, but this really hurts a lot of cruisers.

I'll convert to propane before I'll pay the prices that A&H quotes for Kero burner parts. Holly Cow!!!!

Re: Force 10 Marine Kerosene Burners

As well as the high price, the A and H burners are also not the ones with a built in pricker--but that may change so it might be worth asking if one was to buy.
Speaking of propane--would you just buy a new stove or convert an exiting kerosene to propane ??--I have been wondering if there are any kits but probaably not. I notice that some out door stores have cast iron burners with 1,2,3 burners for under $90. I thought they might be OK as long as you had them set up to turn on and off with a solenoid and a sensor. but maybe too cheaply made?? I don't use the oven on my kerosene much as I have learned that a pressure cooker can do most oven related things including bread. Any thoughts??

Hi! Do NOT convert anything that runs on kerosene to propane or butane. Stay safe! Mauritz
