Quiche prepared ahead. Energy/granola bars. Boiled Eggs. Cheese and crackers, check out "Captains' Crackers" in a couple of different combinations. Soup in a cup from large thermos. Candy bars (high energy). Slim fast or Ensure canned drinks. Breakfast burritos (pre-prepared) better if warm. A "cooler" will keep things warm as well. Plenty of coffee. Has to be warm if not hot. Juices. Instant oat meal is a good breakfast, but need hot water ( big Thermos?). If weather is warm. cold food is OK. If cold weather, it is important to get hot food into the crew.

24 hours? Maybe weight is an issue - but I would really try for at least hot water if you have a battery how about an electric kettle (or even one of those heated coils you put in a cup?) - Hard to beat HOT drinks at 3am (esp coffee with Sugar) and hot cuppa soups. Energy Drinks or just good old Pepsi / Coke for the sugar. The key is variation and having "Treats" - even though it is only 24 hours.

I also recall reading about self heating cans (coffee?)........

Energy bars for sure - and Biscuits. Fruit cake. Fruit - esp Bananas and Oranges........and "good" Sandwiches, better still half a french stick filled full of nice stuff (not just a few bits of Plastic Cheese!).

Marmite (Vegemite)

Assuming a 9 am to 9 am race -

Pre-race - Breakfast ashore.

Day 1 morning - Pre-made sandwiches, 1 liter of water per person. Granola bars or energy bars.

Day 1 dinner - 1 wide mouth Thermos per crewperson with pre cooked stew, hearty soup or pasta dish. Soda crackers or hard rolls. Apples, grapes or other non-peel fruit. Large thermos of coffee. Large thermos of hot chocolate. Liter of water/sports drink per each crew.

Day 2 midninght watch - energy bars, trail mix, granola bars. Fruit. Thermos of coffee/hot chocolate.

Day 2 morning - MORE COFFEE! Breakfast bars, fruit. Alternate granola cereal with UHT milk. Liter of liquids per each crew.

For 24 hours I would not be cooking on board. Our crew eats very little while racing so you may find there will be left overs from the above amounts.

Don't underestimate the fluid needs. 3 liters per person per day. More if it's really hot. Last weekend in 10 hours of sailing in 90 degree temps, me and two 10 year olds drank 1/2 case of soda, 3 liters of gatorade and 4 liters of water.

For the coffee we have 3-in-1 nestle coffee powder and Milo chocolate mix. We have a 2 liter hot pot full of pre-boiled hot water that we strap up in the galley.

Coffee in self-heating containers ~ a bad idea, symptomatic of warped* values.
* This OPINION from a coffee fiend - I drink a gallon before most of you (in my time zone) are awake.

The OnTech self-heating container is built from three main components: the plastic cup, an inner plastic cone and the actuating “puck.” The inner cone holds the mineral calcium oxide or quicklime, which is used in the heating process, and the outer container body holds the beverage product. The puck, which holds the water, fits inside the cone and is sealed by a tamper-evident metal end.
Users activate the heating process by removing the tamper-evident end at bottom of the package and then pushing the exposed button. To keep the heat from the consumer’s hand, a foam label printed in up to six colors wraps around the outside. The high-barrier disposable container is shelf stable and does not require refrigeration prior to opening. Container size, shape, and optimal temperature are customizable to fit the application.

“Hillside” Soups & Beverages (from OnTech) in Self-Heating containers (about $3/small serving)
Hillside Beverages Online Store

Meanwhile, Wolfgang Puck gourmet coffee products has withdrawn their line of self-heating latte cans, due to consumer complaints, ranging from the product’s failure to reach an appropriately hot temperature to it actually overheating, spurting product from the can, leaking out of the can, or the calcium oxide heating mechanism adulterating the coffee itself.
