Food Cruising

I like Mexican food, so need to sail to Mexico.
I like noodles, maybe need to sail to Thailand.
I like chicken wings, maybe should stay in USA.
I like England, what's to eat?
I like beer.............Germany?
I like shrimp, is this Vietnam now a days?

As you see I need more food destinations. Where should one plan on sailing to get good foods? If there isn't good eats why should one risk life and boat to come?

Re: Food Cruising

Come to Nevis for the Goat Water. It's kinda like a Caribbean gumbo.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 10 lb Goat Meat (Mutton)
  • 2 lb (1kg) green pawpaw (diced)
  • 2 lb (1kg) breadfruit
  • 1 lb (500g) flour
  • 1 lb (500g) onions
  • 1/2 pt. (125 ml) cooking oil
  • gravy browning
  • bouquet garni
  • 1 lb (500g) cooking tomatoes
  • 6 tbsp (30ml) tomato ketchup
  • 2 oz (50g) margarine
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 3 maggi cubes
They don't serve it in the Four Seasons Resort here. You have to go to the local spots or the take out truck by the ferry dock.

Re: Food Cruising

Hit every port on the north american US west coast and you will NOT lack for good eats...

Seattle and Portland are excellent stops. Fort Bragg, Bodega Bay will fill you full of good stuff.

Cruise thru the golden gate and if you try to eat at every notable place you will never leave.

South to Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz and then down to Montery, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica... all the way to San Diego.

Honest you would not starve ; -)

Re: Food Cruising

Come on Sara, have to give the specific food not just a promise. And I grew up in the land of fruit and nuts, mostly that's Mexican food plus $5.

Re: Food Cruising

I had the best fettucine alfredo I've had in almost 30 years at a place called Alfonso's Pizza, in Ensenada, just across from the old touristica office, by the waterfront. The place is owned by an Italian(go figure!). The night before, we had great pizza there, as well.

The best pizza I've ever had was in the Brass Rail Pub, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. My girlfriend/fiancee/wife & I ate there at least 2 times per week for 5 months & never grew tired of it.

.
+2 for Alfonso's. They have great food. Even a simple casadilla on corn tortilla is a work of art there.

Best fish dish EVER. There is this restaurant in La Paz (really just a big tent with sand floors) that serves a Pescado relleno con camarones (fish stuffed with shrimp) baked in aluminum foil. They mix a light sauce with the shrimp & top it with what looks like a cheese slice. It is amazing!

Re: Food Cruising

alfonsos has good wifi, also--nice folks and decent foods. excellent breakfasts and something that passes for pizza--not bad, either.

fish tacos 3 for 2 dollars in ensenada at the row of taquerias across fromthe fishmarket-- the one on the end of the row at the street--- they are good.

Re: Food Cruising

With all that good food your going to need to liven it up a little with some fresh wild herbs & spices, -from wild garlic ,onions, thyme, to sage and oregano and a whole lot more , just growing everywhere in the Greek islands-heres a short clip on finding them

Hmm ... not quite sure where you'd sail for cabbage soup.
