Diesel hob

Hello,

I couldn´t find a thread on diesel cookers, so here we go!

As I rather not have gas bottles on board and like the idea of one fuel source for engine, generator and cooker (hob), does anyone have (hopefully good) experiences with diesel cookers?

Thanks!

Re: Diesel hob

Wallas makes an assortment. Very expensive but apparently work as advertised. A friend of ours lost the top plate in a minor accident and it was very dear to replace with no after-market suppliers, etc..

He ended up paying more for a new top plate than we did for a who new LPG cooker.

So, the price is the minus, otherwise all good things I have seen and heard.

Probably the choice for ones who sit or sail in places far from LPG taps.

Consider using electricity via an inverter. Good write up on the victron site

Re: Diesel hob

I once spent a couple of weeks with friends who had a troller with beautiful, big diesel stove installed for Pacific Northwest. It was wonderful there but by the time we got to Honduras it was an ordeal to use it.

Re: Diesel hob

I use a multi fuel cooker as a backup and it does smell a bit when i run it on diesel. I also use it when frying fish as it can be done outside and not stink the whole place out, so then it does not matter when the cooker itself stinks a bit running on diesel. If I use it inside when i need a third flame i run it on butane or alcohol sometimes on petrol as well
