Comfort Foods

Both the wife and I are coming off a week of bad colds.

One thing I have a craving for is real Peameal Canadian Back Bacon, not that imitation stuff they try to pass off down here but the real stuff.

The wife wants Ice Cream

Curious,What do you's all consider your favorite comfort food?

Potato soup, ham & beans w cornbread. Comfort foods to me are meals I enjoy in the cold, dark evenings of winter that give me the feeling that spring will return.

Re: Comfort foods

Bacon and ice cream are not exactly health foods.
My favorite comfort food lately is calcannon. Lightly boil potatoes, throw in some kale right at the end. Meanwhile, saute onions finely diced in butter until clear. Add milk. Grab a slotted spoon and shovel those taters into the sauce. It's like mashed potatoes with kale and onion. Much more delicious.

Single malt, Pusser's or Bombay Blue Saphire provide all the comfort I'll ever need. Capt Phil

Alot of good stuff mentioned.

Cookies..who doesn't love some good cookies, been a long time for us,strange as that sounds.

Potato's, soup, ham and beans w/cornbread..Mmmmmm,you sold me on the cornbread alone. We have atleast 7 boxes of cornbread mix on the boat at all times

Monster energy drink.
Mix that with some Vodka and I'm good to go.

Calcannon, sounds like something we need to try.Always game for new tastes.
BTW... Bacon is good for you if it's the right kind....Ice cream no.....but if the wife is happy.....everybody on board is happy..

Malts....,been awhile since I had a Malt
Actually never tried either of those, added to the list..

So far tonight,Tequila had made my sniffles go away..
And the Jalepeno's from yesterday

Re: Comfort foods

WorldWind, Since you're in Miami try the chili at the Mel Reese Golf Course. Makes ya feel good all over. I'm just getting over a cold as well. As soon as I can taste anything again I'll have a big bowl. It's near my store so stop in and say hello.

Re: Comfort foods

When it is freezig cold, coming from a wintersail, the cabin is warm and cozy,

then a nice cup of Erwtensoup - the one and only -

The best for a quick but tasty meal, not to forget the Alfa ........
