Can you bring fresh fruit and vegetables into the Dominican Republic?

Hello Cruisers! I am trying to find out if anyone knows if it is okay to arrive into the Dominican Republic with fresh fruits and vegetables onboard? I just fully stocked up in Provo and we are headed out to the DR tomorrow, so I guess it is a little late to ask but at least maybe I won't be surprised when we arrive - and we could eat as much as possible on the way down.

Thanks!

We arrived in Luperon, DR from Turks and Caicos in January and were not asked about fresh food.

I understand produce may be inspected, but there is no prohibition that I know of.

Things are very relaxed in the DR, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you everyone for your responses! We actually got stuck in the TCI for a couple more days - so am really glad to know for when we get to the DR!

Happy cruising all...
