Boil This Down

I'm newly into a new, organic cane syrup
http://amzn.to/YP4DtN that makes perfect sweet tea, bar drinks, etc. The fine print on the label specifies that no chemicals are used in the extraction of the cane juice. I'd never thought about that aspect of it before and I consider it another plus. On a related topic, that reminded me of something taught by my cousin, who is in the maple syrup business in Ohio. He uses stainless steel collection buckets but warned against buying syrup from a religious sect in that area that makes everything in a primitive manner--including making their own collection buckets using lead solder. Anything that is boiled down, down, down to the syrup stage would probably have a much higher content of lead. Can anyone comment on syrups in general?
