There's a pretty good basic list in Bill Siefert's book-- Chapter 7.

Sorry, but I just had to say it. We generally stock staple foods. Rice, taters, eggs, and enough canned goods to make simple meals. Soups and canned noodle dishes are easy to heat while underway, hit's the spot on cool evening passages. Hot chocolate, tea's and coffee are very welcome too. We alway's drag a float line behind, sometimes you'll fine dinner on the end. Fishing at anchor is mostly easy enough. You'll find food no-matter where you go, so don't over load the boat. Michael..

Re: Basic Food Shopping List?

My wife comes up with a list of recipes and then shops for those ingredients. On long passages, we'll typically have ten or twelve recipes for dinner and then rotate through them. We keep breakfast and lunch pretty simple but always have plenty of instant noodles or some such convenience food available if the weather gets bad or we just get lazy.

Fair winds and calm seas.

Re: Basic Food Shopping List?

We have just stocked our PDAQ 36 With food & drinks, we started making a list of what we purchase & eat every month, a year ago,so we started from "scratch" but still spent almost $1000.us But now we don't need to buy expensive food from some islands but we will still have to get fresh produce, remember we also bake cakes & bread so you need plastic containers to put it in so you have less cardboard & paper for insects to get into.
