Actually there are a few spots in GT to get lobster but it's a fifteen minute dink ride and you have to get there real early (just after daybreak) while the bugs are still sleeping. Also good bottom time helps.

Re: Argument about Bahamian food prices

High food prices are a serious issue , Conch harvesting is not allowed by non bahamians anymore, part of them trying to replenish stocks. Next it will be fish. What are we to eat. Please send food, or $$ for food. Pm me for the address. 😀 im fairly certain its tax deductible...

Dont get caught! Just went into effect late 2013

No vessel shall have on board any fish unless its head and tail is intact.
The general public is advised that the Queen Conch (conch) is considered to be an endangered species throughout much of its range within the wider Caribbean area, including The Bahamas. The Government, in an effort to ensure the continued sustainability of local conch stocks, has decided to prohibit the harvesting of the species by foreign boaters.

That was proposed in 2011 but they ended up with the 6 conch rule. I would appreciate a cite to the govt. regulation. I went through the website of dept of Marine resources but saw only fishing promotions.

In fact when I searched conch on the site this is what came up:

Re: Argument about Bahamian food prices

In honor of this thread, I am going to go on the Georgetown cruisers net in the morning and give away the second half of this bottle of raspberry rum* I am drinking....

... I will do it in honor of all those "less fortunate" cruisers out there trying to get by with such high toilet paper costs.....

* a strange thing, I do not recall buying this weird flavored rum, but it has appeared in the locker. It ha tanken me drinking almost half the bottle to figure out I am not partial to it.....
