LOL!!! 1:30 is my favorite part

Every one of those skippers should be keelhauled for putting their ship and crews in such danger.

I'd love to hear the broker's excuse for why the doors to the heads and cabins spring open and don't seem to shut properly..

+1 on that.. however poorly that could have turned out for the guy on the bow - luckily he 'appeared' to be ok, the whole impact did have an astounding element of slapstick!

They are on the steep part of the learning curve. In the poll you need another choice.
" I have done worse". Not me, but I know this guy.....

The first time I saw that video, maybe a couple of years ago, my first reaction was, "surely this is a clip out of a slapstick movie about goofy sailors!"

Does anyone know the "real" story behind it? It can't really be as straightforward as it looks. Wouldn't the fact that it was videotaped indicate some kind of set-up situation?

Re: Worst.Seamanship.Ever

Is it just my imagination, or is there just a little bit too much cloth up in the air?

According to someone local to there that posted on another forum this is a well known shortcut for the race. It is not required to go that way, but the more competitive risk it.

I'm not seeing the risk being worth the "reward".

You obviously lack the gene where you must acquire pickle dishes or suffer horrible withdrawal symptoms.

Re: Worst.Seamanship.Ever

It appears some of these boats might need a bit of hull buffing. But it's truly shocking that none of the crews could get their chutes down in a reasonable amount of time.

Fully crewed race boats on the other hand ... I mean, usually the skipper OWNs those boats! No throwing back the keys and getting on the next flight out of town there.

1) they all do that.
2) it shows that she is fast - the hull flexes sort of like the wing on a Jumbo jet.
3) it's a simple fix - your surveyor will confirm that (and if not, I know a couple who will).
4) because the Vendor has only just replaced them - removed because he liked the open plan look / helped the boat sail fast (less weight)....and obviously he has just not got around to the final adjustment - I'll make a note, so the Vendor can make sure it is sorted once the deal has been done.
5) no idea - look at this shiney thing over here, it has lots of buttons.

I'm all for people taking the short cut though those rocks! Please continue to video tape the crashes that occur.

Hey what can I say I like the entertainment, and it isn't my boat!
