All the electric gizmos in the world are great until the battery dies. Make sure your equipment works before leaving port, especially the stuff you rely on. Some folks can't go without all that stuff and good on 'em. Batteries won't die on a compass and charts. In my case I don't miss what I don't have.

But I'm no coastal cruiser making long crossings either. Just a wanna be with a trailer boat in largely protected waters. Living the dream with no worries. YMMV
