Troubled Norwegian sailor Jarle Andhoy heads for Antarctica again

Curious what you all think of this bloke.

His three crew died last year on the boat - that he and his mate were not on at the time.

Questions of being overloaded, not being prepared, not obeying regulations etc in this article

Sail World - Powerboat-world: Sail and sailing, cruising, boating news

Now he is going again and this time without an EPIRB and without approval from the Antartic Treaty.

He was deported from Canada, I would like more on this as it was just thrown in the article without any more detail.

He had a "stowaway" that they somehow didnt know about until well on the way from NZ to McMurdo Sound. They were "asked to leave" suddenly as well.

His goal is to ride Quad bikes to the pole. As seriously fun as that sounds is this really something that should be sanctioned in the most fragile eco-system on earth? But that is a whole other thread I guess..

Just sounds very strange all of it and I am curious what all of you think about him and the whole approach he is taking.

See below articles with info
