Re: Too Many Coast Guard Rescues?

I LOVE how everyone points the finger at some OTHER idiot sailor - I'm sure none of the haters were ever new to sailing or made a mistake or found themselves in heavy weather, etc... I think there's a saying, hmmmmmm, oh yeah - judge not lest ye be judged.

Anyone who needs rescue should get it. I don't care how stupid or smart, rich or poor, well or poorly prepared they are. I don't care if they've been sailing for 30 years or 30 minutes, if they're in a mono or a cat or a kayak or a bunch of bamboo rafted together with rope. If someone needs help and others are capable of providing it, they should. Duh.

FML. Now where is that ignore button...

So true.

A lot of attitudes would change if when on the second day out of San Francisco they hit a partially submerged container at night.

People get a lot more tolerant of budgets when it's their hide that needs saving.
