I don’t understand this at all. The article says they lost their engine but their rigging looks intact. They also must have still had electrical because it said they used a water purifier (I’m assuming a water maker). They also had a years worth of food.

Why not just keep sailing somewhere even if it’s not the original destination and then ask for a tow into the marina when you get there? I’m a newb but how does this happen with just a broken engine?
