I am going to be chartering a
boat for the first time in
Greece. I have
ICC and
VHF license (RYA SRC). This will not be a discussion on what licenses I need to hold. I also own Heikell's Greek Waters Pilot.
I want to talk about more practicalities: i.e. for example on
VHF, is it true that the Coast Guard doesnt
monitor ch 16? (but only ch12?)
Is it common in
Greece to pre-arrival in ports/marinas to check in?
We will be sailing in the
Cyclades. No itinerary yet, any strong recommendations of bays/beaches to see? (i.e. I want to enter the Santorini crater from the North as apparently the entrance is beautiful.
Any other experiences chartering in
Greek Islands that is worthwhile sharing?
