Re: Police boat crashs into docked boats

They wanted a new boat, but couldn't get one because of budget constraints. After the crash and with insurance money, now they can get a new boat with A/C, a brand new radar and a non-composting head (outhouse). Life is good!

From the video of the incident-- a very strong case for operator negligence. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Re: Police boat crashs into docked boats

Good luck trying to collect from the Town or County Insurance. Most towns and countys have a cap on insurance claims and they are not very high. We went through this when our boat was hit by the harbormaster's boat after he fell out of said boat at full throttle and salmmed into our boat while it sat on its mooring. We had to put the claim through our own insurance co and now when ever we change our insurance company we have to report that claim and even though we were not at fault it does reflect on our premiums. As far as neglect good luck on that one too. What I learned is you better off getting hit by another boater then you can either have their ins.pay or you can sue. I wish the two boat owners good luck with their outcome

Re: Police boat crashs into docked boats

Looks like a typical small powerboat operator who thinks a boat steers like a car from the front of the vehicle.

I see people trying to leave a dock turning the wheel away from the dock and scraping along the dock going WTF !??

Same here. Cop turned away from the docked boat and smacked it hard with his stern. Duh.
Sorry mister cop, it steers from the stern !

Re: Police boat crashs into docked boats

That was a good day for the DC police, based on my experience working with them.

You don't want to see their bad ones.
