Those boats must be motoring because their catamarans. And no way are those 20 foot waves and 40 to 49 knot winds. Totally different. Hopefully Ken will post his video for the 12th time next to them in order for us to watch it again and compare.

I hadn't yet joined or heard of CF, was probably still on the Hunterowners forum. Which is excellent for Hunter owners BTW.

Re: Oyster Yacht in Storm Video

I just found this gale video shot onboard a Gemini catamaran. Very impressive, especially around minute 10-11 in 40-45 knot winds.

Please post more storm videos.

There is something I don't understand on that video: Lots of sail up for 45K wind on a light boat and they are only doing 6/7K downwind?

Well, there is this one, even if the guys seem to be having fun, just look at the size of waves.

That's from the 1998 Sydney to Hobart

Looks like an interesting doco on the race

Please enjoy the ride!

I know some folks will be curious as to what preparations we made and the sails used, so here goes...

The Strait of Bonifacio is the passage between Corsica and Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea.
Top of waves do not mask the horizon ... 3 meters seas then ?

I agree, but you'll probably agree that the sea state and big waves were impressive for being out in such a light, small boat.

Then you two will need to read my posts on the climate change thread sometime. Lots of fun. :-)

Those videos do look like fun. Thanks. The helm chair on the pedestal provides quite the birds eye view forward !

Re: Oyster Yacht in Storm Video

And I forget about the most awesome video with a solo sailor showing how to sail a small 32ft boat on a full gale with 50k winds. Now I should put here one of those warnings "don't try to make this on the water with your boat unless you are a highly trained professional and have a really good sailboat"

I love the moment when he tries to put a spi on. Big balls and not much sense. The boat broaches immediately. Well not a big problem for him, just the time to take the spi away and there he goes again at full blast.
