Congratulations! Your mojo has returned.

There is no such thing as bad mojo. It is either there or you've lost it. It's not hunch. It is more closely related to luck except it is more like being in a groove that just feels right as things go right. There are days, weeks, months, years where things are going right. Those are the times when you have mojo. When things go wrong you've lost your mojo.

Anyway, the recipe for mojo will always help you feel like your mojo is back even though the next day you may feel like you've lost it again.

I agree, "Mojo" and "intuition" (hunch) are two different things. Mojo is being in the "groove" or not. Like state-of-mind. Intuition is IMHO a higher mental funtion (supra/meta conciousness if you will), which is synthesizing bits of information at a level above our immediate concious thoughts. Intuition is that little voice saying..."Maybe this is not a good idea?".

Prudent seamanship I think includes not only skill, experience, forethought, preparedness, but also being aware of these less tangible inputs too. And being willing and able to go against that inertia which can carry events forward against your better judgement.

Making a "no go" decision can be inconvenient and frustrating, but it sure beats finding yourself in a bad situation past the point of no return.

The gods must be laughing among themselves reading a bunch of guys defining "mojo" when we can't even work out "cruising" or "bluewater."

Re: Mojo

Mojo is like pornography. You can't define it, but you know it when you see it

And if the moment after making a "no go" decision you are unexpectedly flooded with a sense of relief - then you know the decision is a good one.

I think they're excited to see sailors defining what they've given some of us.

The bar's in Ireland. It's all you can drink for a euro day. They all want two euros worth.
