Mnemonics...

So much information for old brains like mine to remember. Mnemonics help. Most sailors are familiar with "True Virgins Make Dull Companions; add Whiskey" for computing compass headings.

I also have trouble remembering the difference between sheeting, attack, and entry angles so I came up with "Sailors Cherish All Winds, Except Light" which reminds me that relative to the sail's chord, Sheeting angle is vs. the Centerline, Attack angle is vs. the Wind, and Entry angle is vs. the angle of the Luff. (at least I think that's right)

Any others out there you can share?

Right-of-way hierarchy

New - NUC
Rods - Restricted manueverability
Catch - Constrained by draft
Fish - Fishing vessels
So - Sail
Purchase - Power
Some - Seaplane

Same as above, but add:

Often - Overtaking (they have to give way to everything above)
