I remember all too well how creepy it is to be following the cyclone's track. In our event, the tc never went to it's predicted position, was miles off. The prediction in your neck of the woods may be better. Do you know which models are best for your area (based on past record)? If you have a chart you can trace over, it's actually sort of fun (while you're waiting to see what eventuates) to chart predicted positions vs. where it actually is at the predicted time.

It seemed as if Odile pretty much followed what NOAA predicted, would you agree?

odile did, and the model storm 2k said was best one tracking htat one is same that puts polo right on our mastheads.. i am not liking them too much right now, and i am hoping the track moves out to sea only 3 millimeters., er a couple of degrees....and stays away from already mangled baja
this is number 16 and we still have 2 full months to go.. last year we were done at 19.. lets see how much alphabet we use this year.

It did. A good visual is the Hurricane storm and weather info for La Paz Cabo San Lucas Baja California Mexico Storm, and Hurricane tracking site which displays the NOAA tracks.

i am inside a marina baffled inside a lagoon tied to the place(dock cleats, tight, check, pilings, above water, check) for dear life, as is every other boat. we should be safe. we can hopefully sit here comfortably, UNLESS the bitch makes a header for "near manzanillo", as that is us, or too damclose to us....
some believe that iff this intensifies too rapidly it may spin itself into mexico before baja, which is us.
oops -- wont just buff right out.
but , unless there is an unexpected turn to shore, we be fine. just wet not too wild. we prepped for holy hell and hoping for light duty

coordinates 19.1 north and 104.5 west .... holding on to my part of the planet well, so far..

Latitude 38 - 'Lectronic Latitude

This is the latest from Latitude 38. The opening photo is a boat on the beach with the furling jib in tatters but the staysail still encased in it's cover. Why oh why don't people take down there head sails when such a storm is in the offing??

yes geary,-- sonrisanet.org, eebmike, and such, is temporarily not available to sketchily available, as all electricity and wifi and many cell towers are temporarily down fro the count. he should be back up rapidly, however, and back at it.
i enjoy his postings, as well as storm 2k and goes satellite server. the automatically updated items he carries are still updating, his words are missing or outdated for now.

tis the season, most gringos believe in the magic of soc for summering.
i saw it as a trap.
we do not ever know where is truly allegedly safe from these incredible storms.
we can only hope.

I remember well sitting in a bar not far from San Carlos watching a small 'cane heading our way. The cloud formations were incredible... big donut shaped cells. ... or so it seemed anyway after 3 tequilas!

dulcesuenos-- they are folks with my color skin who refuse to speak or mingle with locals much less hire them, like to hang out in gaggles in in a beautiful place acting like they have a god named jimmy buffett, and eat amerikun fud and tip poorly while drinking way too much ..

Yeah, when I was in Mexico a Gringo was pretty much anyone from north of the border... mixing with locals or not!

cheechako, that is stil true, but i try hard to be .... what ye call it....

mebbe semi tolerant, as i find so many kinds of folks, and so much dislike in the faces and tones of voice in so many who visit. i find i feel not readily tolerant of the ones so full of ugly. (is difficult to understand why they are so unfriendly/ugly in such a friendly place.)..
many of us are helpful and support the local economy, and yet some refuse to so do...
