Lol!! this remind me when i deliver a brand new lagoon 380 to caribean and the dealer give us cheap dock lines to dock the boat along the way, 2 lines parted in la Coruña in 30 knts of wind , and 1 more in Porto, China China stuff!! no way....

I used to do that all the time. . . but that is another story. Seriously, though, doing things proper and Bristol fashion, though possibly more time consuming and a bit more expensive, is less costly in the long run.

i use straight plain old line for docklines and fenders--those cutsie expensive eyes spliced in are only for looks. my docklines are cleated off both ends and my fenders do not disappear on me...btw--all my fenders except one were found by me--they were floating by my boat with those cutsie attachments of purchased equipment as well as chafed spliced loops. forcing ones self to re-ty the line constantly forces continuous inspection and is less pricey because it makes my fenders remain loyal to my boat. i can also use that bit of line for other purposes.
