Jib Sheet Steering without Jibing?

I want to use jibsheet steering primarily, but sometimes it can diverge. What I mean is if a wave and wind combination occurs and maybe everything wasnt perfectly trimmed and set, then you can get thrown off course and you will jibe, or worse. I am very interested in ways to use additional lines that normally are slack, but in the right event, they "kick in" and correct the problem. I am using levers on the jibsheets to give much more travel.
