Not really a 200 foot wave, that's something for the movies. More a 200' wave splash.

Cowes! Pretty snug in a SW-er. Lines doubled, and sprung off a bug gaff rigger opposite.

The boat was rockin' a bit last night down here in Devon

There were some massive gusts in front of the huge squalls coming over, still blowing but not as bad as it was. Some of the tankers are barely moving on marinetraffic heading down the channel, lots more tucked in behind head lands.

Prawle Point last night:

More Cornish exxajeration designed to get tourons to come kill themselves in splash exxtacy.

A big "Bawfa" on Boaty for enticing riots of grandious laundrymaking.

If you want exxcitement go to Yorkshire and mlk a cow! Keep your eyz off this Bluuudy videio.

What, you're surely not suggesting that the Daily Mail might exaggerate? You'll be trying to tell us next that Fox News is not always the gospel truth!

Many years ago, I and a bunch of work colleagues did a survey over four or five months of our selected daily newspapers (all UK) comparing stories and headlines. At the end of which we concluded that it was dangerous to read the Daily Express: In any story concerning a major disaster, such as hurricane, air crash or the like, the Daily Express's forecast of the numbers killed and injured was invariably the highest; it therefore stood to reason that their readers must be at a greater risk of being casualties of such events than the readers of other newspapers.

Having been doing exactly that for the last few months, I can report that once you've milked a few hundred of the buggers, for the nth time, the excitement does begin to pall slightly; though you never stop seeing the funny-side of them crapping on your head.

Since we're talking about surf, I thought you might enjoy seeing that not all crazy people are cruisers.

There's a lot being written about how the Pacific El Nino is creating ridiculously large surf this year. I haven't seen anything on CF about unusual waves or difficulties. Is it all converging on Hawaii?

Re: Its getting a bit rough round Cornwall

West coast of Florida feeling the effects as well. Gale force or near Gale force winds weekly it seems. Including starting up now and all through tomorrow.

Surfers here are loving it but for me at anchor not so much. Four foot breaking waves on the bow a week or so ago. Boats going walkabout, etc.

Even some "little" tsunamis, but I forget the correct term.

Then again, someone got hit and killed by a meteorite yesterday, so could be worse. (Overseas somewhere)
