Here we go again! Another rescue.
Three septuagenarians aboard 42-foot sailboat
One rescued sailor was 72 and two others were 79
The Coast Guard coordinated a rescue of three sailors approximately 1,200 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, at approximately 2 p.m., Thursday.

Future deckofficers and engineers aboard Maine Maritime Academy ship State of Maine also diverted their 499' training ship for the rescue.

Always nice to have a happy ending. I keep a PLB in my pocket all the time. The EPIRB in the boat is no use to you if you fall over the side.

Agree, but just a re4minder that where you are statutorily required to carry an EPIRB, a PLB doesn't discharge that requirement.

Although it is reported as 42-foot, it looks like an Alliage 44. In which case it is/was aluminum with a centerboard.
