Future deckofficers and engineers aboard Maine Maritime Academy ship State of Maine also diverted their 499' training ship for the rescue.

Always nice to have a happy ending. I keep a PLB in my pocket all the time. The EPIRB in the boat is no use to you if you fall over the side.

Does anyone recognize the class of boat ? It looks like a Morris but with twin rudders.

Re: Here we go again! Another rescue.

Mono hull, flooding, and capsizing sounds like lost of keel. Another old boat?

Re: Here we go again! Another rescue.

I was thinkin' the keel ripped open but not off, perhaps a roll or it tripped.

Agree, but just a re4minder that where you are statutorily required to carry an EPIRB, a PLB doesn't discharge that requirement.

Re: Here we go again! Another rescue.

Although it is reported as 42-foot, it looks like an Alliage 44. In which case it is/was aluminum with a centerboard.
