Heeling via external water ballast

My boat draws 6'-8" which will make the Rio Dulce entrance a problem.

I remember seeing a large "waterbag" product that was intended to be put on a halyard and held away from the boat to heel it over (thus reducing draft). Anyone have any experience with this?

Duane
