CQR Type anchor

I don't know where to place this question, this may be the wrong place. Anyway I have a like new CQR type anchor (I think 45lbs) that I am going to sell and I have been looking for something to compare it to and can not find anything. Does anyone have any ideas where I could look?? Thanks.

What are you trying to do by selling one anchor and buying another? Not satisfied with the one you have, or don't have a windlass?

I would like to find a value so I can price this one. This 45lb anchor is my back up and I have decided to keep my old 75lb CQR instead.

Darn you would have to be so far away. A 45lb is just what I am looking for. Freight would be a killer. Hmmmm, unless you put it on a small raft with a sail and set it out in this general direction. COD of course.

Just my little old boat. I started thinking that if I am carying a spare why not the larger one? A 75lb does not take that much more space than the 45lb. Thew problem is that I do not know what to ask for this CQR clone.

My new 35lb. CQR just arrived. A new 45lb. CQR is around $650.- I don't know what "clone" does for value. Sell it to Wheels for half and debate the freight or keep it since it is supposed to handle up to a 65 footer.

I would think a CQR clone would be about half the cost of a real CQR.

Aye, ya get what ya pay for...Clones may be half the price, but one dark and stormy night yer boat starts moving in the wrong direction, towards the rocks, because the half price anchor let go.

Sell the gen-set and the air conditon and get a good anchor instead.

Yeah, and because of the clone anchor. During a bad storm, you end up inside some strange water front restuarant. And have the owners all ticked off at you.

I bought a 88lb Delta last year to replace the 75lb CQR and a 66lb claw to replace the 45 lb CQR clone. And I will now carry the 75lb CQR in place of the clone. I feel that I do have good anchors.
But I would be hapy to sell the genset too.

I beleive that the anchor is no place to be cheap or to save a few bucks. Especially with clones that are of questionable quality and manufacture.

We live onboard and bought a spade primary and a delta as a second, to protect our home. I wanted an anchor that I could trust not to break because of poor quality casting or materials. Especially in storm or huricane conditions. I think that 4-500 for the right top quality anchor is the most important thing for my boat and my life.

A boat next to us Cool Runnings, had a knock of Bruce. They came back to thier boat and noticed it was moving. the wind was only 15 knots, light down here. After re-anchoring the found that the shaft had snapped off. They were lucky.

A few hundered saving almost cost them a 75 foot boat in the out islands. Yikes!

The clone CQR we have is called a plough. BTW we also have a 45 lb CQR, a 45 pound yachtsman, and a 35 pound fishermans.

This CQR clone came with the boat when I bought it. I did not try to save money on anchors when I replaced the 75lb CQR with the 88lb Delta. If I could do it again however I would buy a new CQR over the Delta. But there are many boaters out there that have had great luck with Deltas and that is why I got one. Maybe when we get south the Delta will profprm better for us. I listened to CSY man and joined the "Delta force".

$250 US sounds about right -- if it's in new shape and looks well made.

I think a new "real" CQR is probably about $500US.

I have never met an un-happy owner of a Delta anchor.

What went wrong...?
