Cats not a problem, just some paperwork if you want to do it 100% official.

Cost? yes, stiff but still cheaper than the USA...

There are no quarantines for imported pets in the Bahamas. You get the pet current on vaccinations, have your vet fill out the paperwork given to you by the Bahamas Dept of Agriculture, and submit that paperwork when you clear customs. It's simple to do, and there are no fees involved. I think maybe you have confused the Bahamas with the Turks and Caicos, or any other British territory down there. They do require quarantine for pets that will leave your boat.

A few benefits of a 6 foot draft in the Keys and Bahamas:

You tend to anchor a little further out, less congestion, less noise, less pests (well flying ones anyway).

Less likely to have unwanted guests showing up uninvited, makes the beer and rum supply last longer.

Less chance of being the target when someone starts dragging anchor.

Generally better spectating spot ( and safer ) when one of the many credit card captains comes in to anchor.

A justifiable reason for a bigger outboard on the dink, and a bigger dink for that matter.

Yup and it keeps you from going to where to many people are I have 6 feet and never kept me from going where I wanted... well most the time

I opted out of the keys with 6-6 draft... just looked too dicey to me. The bahamas were not a problem, but yes you will have to watch what you are doing.

We have sailed and lived in the Keys with our 6' draft for going on three years now. We've had less of an issue in the Keys than on the Florida west coast. We also sailed our 6' draft through Bimini, the Berry's and the Exumas without issue. We did have to wait on high tide in a few places, but overall, it wasn't an issue.

hey zee are you in ensanada bc?if so where you going to go(south?),the reason I ask is there is this place south of you called guerro negro and if you turn left(go east) on the highway toward san ignacio(only one hwy) and keep driving until you see a blue sign with prehistoric critters on it ..(maybe about 50 miles or so )when you see the sign look to your left and you will see a mnt.range off in the distance... maybe 30 miles, if you turn left and go until your at the foot of the mnts.there is a UNESCO heritage site up in these mnts.you can go up and visit the small village at the top and you will see some very interesting things such as ..petroglyfes,ancent rock art and if your really into adventures you can give the old man some money and he will put you on a donkey and take you into the canyon for a few days..it will blow your mind..its a really cool adventure and a resonable price...you can rent a car in guerro negro also ..just thought id mention it.the heritage site is called el ratone..
