They almost always have to change the story line (and facts) to make it a movie that will engage most people, and we know most people don't know ship about boats. We'll just have to take those "adjustments" with a grain of salt
My daughters and I went to Scotland
- in winter (huh?) and regular tours weren't running, so we hired this guy to take is around the sights of lower Scotland
Turned out he was president of the William Wallace Society. One of the producers of BRAVEHEART came to Scotland for three days and got lots and lots of historically accurate details from our tour guide -- and they used virtually none of it. The possibility that Wallace and the King's son's wife dallied, or even thought about it? That's one good example.
The fellow who gave us the tour was mightily ticked off that the movie was so inaccurate, but I bet all of us here enjoyed the movie.
