Hilarious!

Now let's see the cat close hauled like the mono, in the same sea conditions...

Oh, and if we really are drawing the battle lines again:

I see on the monohull a guy having fun sailing the boat, on the multihull they are having fun doing something else. I like having fun sailing

Catamaran sailboats are for sissies. (Oh no!, the monohull boat is leaning! Eeeeek!)

Close haul the cat ? that's a novelty

I think it is also time to reef the mono....at least drop the traveler.

Lets run them both over the top of a reef four feet down, and then beach them for lunch.

Must be a slow day on the forum to have this reappear. What a waste of time, surely there is something more interesting than regurgigating this beaten to death topic. Merry Xmas, R

Someone posted pics of it near the beach or reef on some island. It's probably beat to bits by now.

I have to say, it looks like the mono was having a beautiful sail, and their music was better.

Re: Catamaran Vs MonoHull The Ultimate comparison

Leaning = fun. That's just silly.

Sail a cat to weather in 18knots? Love to. Double-digit boats speeds are very likely. At least as fun as a monohull, IMHO. Of course, both pictures were in protected waters; Up wind in 18 knots would not be much fun most 34' boats.

And why do folks have to get defensive? The OP was just funning us. Every design has its compromises. I don't even like that particular cat design, but the video shows that it reaches very well and has a fun cockpit for a boat that size.

Dulcesuenos, I think you've done us conscientious cat sailors a disservice by showing a mono obviously harder on the wind vs an overloaded Gemini on a quite broad reach. Nothing to compare here. The weight of all those people probably dampened the motion quite a bit.

This perpetuates the myth among some of our monohull friends that cats can't go upwind, which is quickly seized upon by those most uninformed.

There is a difference, it seems everybody is joking here and not taking it seriously. That's quite an improvement.

By the way:

It seems to me that it is monohulls sailor that are afraid to be capsized on a multihull and not otherwise, so regarding sissies I don't know where to look for them

Anyway I would not mind to sail on a multihull but I like heel so I would have to sail it on only one hull. Seems fun to me.
