Capabilities of beneteau first 20

I'm interested in the beneteau first 20 and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this:

The boat is 21ft long and is CE rated at C6/D6, there is a 6ft draft, 8ft beam, and it's quite heavy.

I'm not interested in going offshore at all. I am mostly a lake sailor in upstate New York, however I would like to do a few trips in the Long Island sound.

what would my cruising capabilities be on a vessel of this size/type?
Can this handle that?
Does the CE classification actually mean anything?
Is there anything I can do to increase the capabilities of it?

Thank you!!!
