Balance of opinion, even where methods of estimation are discussed, is that you have to be pretty sure you are getting this right. Especially with wave action.

Conservative choices of destination are often better than (supposedly) accurate calculation.

IME if it is hard to get in, it can also become hard to leave. So we also have to consider tidal windows and weather for our departure and next passage.
