you can change the paradigms just like we did in 2016. However with as ingrained as the social engineering was it will take a few years to correct the problem.

Sorry i'm trying to make sense of this statement. You have already confused "generosity" with "charity" are you now confusing "social engineering" with "leftist political activism"? Please clarify.

I agree. My first real job paid $4/hour.
My first house cost 70k.

Now adays similar jobs pay 16/hour, bit houses are 450k and up.

I hope they find another boat and keep sailing. They'll Be more cautious this time for sure.

Amen to this!! By the time my wages went up 10% the value of homes rose 80%. There was no way to keep up with it.

OK, I can agree with this. The problem still remains that there is a whole generation of young people who were negatively programed by social engineering and are still suffering/disenfranchised despite the election of the life long democrat D.T.

Stop living in the wrong housing locations and you'll find that housing isn't unaffordable... my 3/2 on 0.5 acres cost $167k less than 4 years ago.

I agree, if there are work opportunities in rural locations. This is also why the young couple in question moved onto their boat, because it was less expensive.

It just hit me that some on this thread said the way mellinials are is the fault of the baby boomers.
Well that is definitely not the case the gen x is the parental of them .

Parents, grandparents, all to busy "gettin theirs" and farming out parenthood to government daycare centers (public schools) and not caring what the kids were being taught. Unfortunately they were being told "what to think" instead of being taught "how to think". Systemic failure from top to bottom. I like the attempt to deflect the blame solely to GenX though.

Absolutely correct. The Millennials are the fault of Gen-X. And Gen-X is the fault of the Boomers, and the Boomers are the fault of the Greatest Generation, and....

....this is why Adam and Eve were ashamed when God came looking for them in the Garden. It wasn't the nakedness - they just knew how their kids were going to turn out.

That's hard to say because the US is not my home country and the "generation identity" didn't really apply to me. I'm from Canada where I am currently resisting draconian "Identity Politics" and "Political Correctness" spewed by our current Prime Minister. Age wise I would fall into GenX.

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize

This no insurance and "so others have to pay" is interesting.

If they had taken out insurance, paid a couple of premiums prior to sailing, how much would that had amounted to? Recovery costs how much? Who pays the difference?

"The insurance company of course". They do - with OTHER PEOPLES' MONEY. Insurance is a collective sharing of costs, and the insurance company takes a big slice from everyone.

It is laughable that some are critical of a GFM appeal which is voluntary and non profit, versus insurance which is extortionately high, and makes a pile of money for a predatory industry.

Yes, and this is what possibly makes folks somewhat narrow minded.

The lack of education!

Many here simply have a high school education and a job skill.

Even those that went to college say in the sciences or engineering didn't get a well rounded education but simply a job skill. You got somewhat screwed over

You can see these kind of folks responding throughout this entire thread

These kids made a small mistake and thankfully it was close to land. Not really a big deal.

Now they are ready for their next boat .................
